Those Pure Vintage 64 pickups sound phenomenal eh?

Did you have both pickups wide open?
Or favor one over the other?
    Tone wide open...
    Any effects?

Thank you for playing along with a recording where the bass you demo is upfront in the mix that we can hear every nuance!

Fantastic and should be a sticky on how to demo a bass
    You and @Dr. Cheese

Man oh man...I really want mine to be done in black!
Was the pink removed or just sprayed on top of?

Looks like a thin coat of black nitro straight over the original pink. It's checking naturally in some spots and getting It's own earned wear as well as the fake stuff.

Very well done. Great job. Cool sunglasses in the reflections too.

Thank you, but those are Aguilar 4J-60 pickups. Tone & pickups wide open. They work better for me than the original 64's. Just one pedal: Microtubes X7.
But yes, those Pure Vintage 64's do sound great. No doubt.

I've been through a lot of Jazz basses, but to put it succinctly, when I can make a bass sound like the crack of a low frequency snare, that's a bass for me.

    Succinctly:

After months of lurking, I finally picked up my Flea RW Jazz! It's a 2019 and came with a couple of tasteful "mods" that I would've considered doing myself (vintage style bridge cover, plain Fender neck plate, a set of Labella flats). Gave the truss rod a tweak last night and want to finish the setup today. My initial impression is that these are crazy good for the money and I can't wait to spend some time with it.
I will say that the one loop it threw me for was the rotary indents on the tone knobs. I've never had a V/T/V/T jazz before so I don't know if this is normal or not. Definitely not an issue, and think it'll actually be pretty cool, once I'm used to it.

You can easily remove the indented washer. But it is useful when using the volume knob without accidentaly rotating the tone knob thanks to the additional indented resistance.

  13. Thank you! But yo.... I left my jogging pants on the floor :D

How easy is thumb muting on this Flea bass neck! Perfect neck profile.

What is the neck profile like on these? More medium/modern C or chunkier, or more slim-60’s or shallower?

Also seen it variably described as a C or a U in ad copy...?

  18. Definitely slim skinny C but not flat skinny like some Geddy Lee basses I’ve played

Thanks - GAS dissipating! (I need a bit more wood back there...) Really like everything else above these basses, though...)

Are the regular Road Worn J’s the same or different?
