For what it's worth, I checked out a Highway-1 Telecaster and I thought it was pretty good for the money. The store I was in didn't have any of the basses, but they say they're going to get them as soon as they sell off some older inventory. The Highway-1 Tele was pretty cool. Sorta had the vibe of an MIM that was made with better woods and more detailed finishing. I would not be at all surprised if they were started in Mexico and finished in the USA (I don't consider this a bad thing, the USA and Mexico Fender factories are less than 200 miles apart).I REALLY liked the paint job. It was a sort of thin flat vintage white that I suspect will age very nicely. I would definitely want one of the P-basses in this color.
