Fender Japan '62 reissue precision bass, lightweight - 7.4 lbs! I bought this due to its light weight, and I was not disappointed... There's a world of difference between standing with this thing hanging from my shoulder, and standing with any of my other basses. It's only 7.4 pounds. There's a bit of neck dive, as you might expect, but I tuck the end of the strap through my belt and that takes care of it. (I have not tried a neoprene strap or any of the other hundred and one solutions to neck dive, I'm sure many of them would work as well.) This bass is all original as far as I can tell except for one strap pin that was missing (I replaced it with one from the parts bin). It's 3-tone sunburst with the extra strap pin on the back of the headstock. Serial number dates it to 1993-1994. It's got a few scrapes and dings, but the neck is killer and in excellent shape. Frets are almost like new, and the rosewood fretboard is incredible. The three-tone sunburst really pops. Pickups sound great, classic P-bass thump. So why am I selling it? The neck is just a bit wider than I'm used to (that '62 profile) and I've got other acquisitions that need to be paid for. Price is $850 shipped CONUS. {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {}
I've had both....the AVRI is wider overall, but just about as thick front to back. However, the AVRI feels narrower front to back because of the wider width, if this makes sense. Honestly the MIJ profiles are hard to beat from a comfort & playability perspective.
