Fender Jazz Bass 1973 Maple Neck Blond w/ black blocks inlay

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by pepelaici, Mar 18, 2009.

  1. Hi guys...
This is a new delivery of "My Basses one by one"
I answer to a add in a local paper and took the train to Neuchâtel (arrond 80 miles from Geneva) I bougt the bass at the train station without even try it... As soon as I saw it, I knew that it was perfect.. Thre were a lot of missing parts (both pick.ups covers and brige and the thumb rest). There were two small quarz stones, glued over the screws holes of the ashtray... There was also a small silver sun sticked on the pickguard at the place of the thumb-rest... The case was also missing... The general condition was good... but the guy hadn't played for a long time... I've found one by one the missing 1973 parts on Ebay, and I've finally finished the job...
Some of you have already seen it... Waiting for comments.
    As it was

    Present condition

    Very nice color combo.
Is that a semi-transparent finish or a solid color?

Well done, sir! How does it play now? Are the pickups original?

Also appreciate you going all the way with the pickup covers. I'm just a sucker for that chrome, I guess.

I think it'd be cool if Fender reissued that exact bass - basically a Geddy Lee neck w/ an Oly White body, tort guard, etc.

Obviously, yours is the real deal though - nice bass!

    Nice colour!!

    See mine, 71
  11. Geddy Lee's basse is exactly the same but black body and maybe a year older than mine... I think Geddy has a 1972 JB bougth in a Pawn Shop.
  12. Sound is giant !!!!

I've found the 1972-74 pickup covers on Ebay... But I use the only for the pictures...
    I' like the basse nude....

Pickups are all original... the rust on the screws. prevent me to have a look inside :meh:
  13. It looks nice !!!
    See my 1968-69

Original Pickups brilliant!! Mine died 10 years ago! The ones now are Lollar.
  15. Your basse has also a badass bridge...

Wow, a rosewood one, too!! cool!

Yep, Badass bridge. I cannot stand the original bridge, the saddles were all over the place + being too far back made it even worse.
  17. I love Fender basses just as the were build...
    I own several basses
Obviously you haven't seen the whole...
Have a look at my threads:

I was down in Paquis earlier this evening and peaked in the window of The Music Store. Either your or should go down thee and take pictures of all the vintage gear they have in there. The lads here would go nuts.
