6FAAA96A-0574-47C4-8188-948E51074DAE.jpeg Fender Japanese '62 reissue (fretted). I bought the bass used in the late 90s but I’m pretty sure that, from the serial number, it is a 1996 model. It comes strung with TI flats. It has a Badass II bridge and the pickups have been upgraded to Nordstrand NJ4SE pickups. I will include the original Fender pickups. Set up for Schaller strap locks. No case included.

Weighs about 9.4lbs on a bathroom scale.

It has been played a lot over the years but is in good condition. The photos show some areas where the finish is chipped (none on the front of the body). It could use a pro setup but plays nicely as it is right now.

Local pickup preferred but will ship for $85 within the continental US.

** Note that this was originally bundled with a fretless neck and that's why it's in one of the photos. It has since been sold separately and the asking price has been adjusted to reflect that.

Does anyone know where I can find a pick guard like this one for a 10 hole American Jazz?

If you have the original, you can mail it to PickGuard Planet and they will use that as a template and make a new one… what ever color you choose from their palette. They were recommended to me by Roger Sadowsky. I have gotten a couple from them so far.

Hi shlabotnik. I live in New Hampshire and am interested. I don't remember how to pm on talk bass. If you shoot me a pm and tell me where you are located I should be able to reply.

OK figured it out. Sent you a pm.

Why, why, is this still here! An MIJ J-bass like this typically goes for around $900. that's without an extra fretless neck!!!!! Somebody needs to buy this great deal.

Please note that the fretless neck that this was originally bundled with has been sold separately.
The recent price reduction reflects this. Thank you!!

Come on people, this is what an older Jazz bass is all about. These are the instruments that the Japanese were making better than USA Fenders! What a great price for a great bass. (I might be a bit biased because I have a sea foam green version of this bass) GLWTS!
