Fender Jazz Pickguard Question...

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Woofenstein, Aug 29, 2004.

  1. I was looking on www.pickguards.com and noticed that they sell two different 5-string jazz pickguards - MIA and MIM. What is the difference? Is it just screw hole placement?

I believe that they are placed differently and that the MIM has 9 holes while the MIA has 11.

    But I could be wrong.

Also, the MIA has the truss rod access at the heel of the neck & there is a slot in the pickguard for the access.

  4. Cool - thanks for the replies!

aren't the MIA and MIM pickup sizes different too?

  6. Nah. Not anymore, firstly, but back in the day both MIM pickups were neck pickups. Which doesn't affect the pickguarded area.
