Fender Jazz pickup replacement - looking for growl

I've been trying a MIM Geddy Lee, and while I like the sound, the neck is just too narrow for my larger hands. My wrist tires faster because I have to clamp down more when I'm doing runs. I can still return it for a refund so I think I'm gonna.

So my thought was, I have an older MIM Jazz that I was thinking of selling, but I like its neck, and would be great with a little more growl. What about putting some Geddy Lee pickups in there?

Any other suggestions on other pickups that would fit in a MIM Jazz and that would give me a little more Geddy-er growl?

I know Geddy Lee had Lindy Fralin rewire the pickups for his Jazz before he recorded Clockwork Angels album. You may want to start there.

I realize now there is "pickups" forum so I resposted it there.

But as far as the neck goes on the Geddy, too thin for me. Ouch.

Interesting... Geddy's actual bass is a 72 Jazz. I had a 76 which is basically the same thing, except mine had pearl inlays instead of the black he has on his, but same color and maple fretboard. I actually recall the neck on my 76 feeling slightly thicker than my American Deluxe I have now.
