    Ok so I seen this
Fender LE MIJ Midnight Precision Bass on Fenders website and basically fell in love ;) I already have quite a few basses but was in the market for a P bass.

I have never owned a Japanese manufactured Fender so I bring it to you my esteemed and knowledgeable brethren.. what pro's and con's are there with the MIJ Fender basses?

Here is a link to Fenders website:

Posted a similar thread the other day, apparantly it's not grabbing too much attention.

I think it's awesome, so tempted to pull the trigger on it.

Mine was delivered on Friday. So far so good. Quality is top notch, neck feels great and it sounds pretty darn good. The only let down was the included gig bag. I didn't expect much but I did expect something on the lines of the older deluxe ones Fender used to include with the Standard MIM basses. This one offers no protection whatsoever.

I don't use gig bags for anything. Even my BB300 Yamaha has it's case.

no endorsements yet...Are you listening Spector, DR, GK, Line6?
I saw these all over reverb lately...I like it... a lot...Japanese Fenders (in my opinion) are excellent, build quality is exceptional. I have had several limited editions from them and they were all right in line with the USA models.

I think this case would work. At least, it had gold hardware...

It wasn't a deal breaker and nice gesture, just not what I expected. I do love how the pickguard has holes for a pickup cover. Just need to put some flats on this bad boy and it will be ready to rock.

Sure. I bought mine from Strait Music off Reverb. No complaints about the store or bass at all!

Cool bass. Too bad gold hardware tarnishes easier than black or chrome.

My best friend bought one last week and being a huge fan of MIJ Fenders (have four) I couldn't resist pulling the trigger on one after playing his. A steal of a price for a Japanese instrument since most used ones are selling in that ballpark. I found this one on Ebay...flame neck and 8 lbs 1 oz. Arrived today.

Does anyone know how many were manufactured? I read somewhere 145.

I really wish they had used an ebony board, or at least dyed the board black like on the Aerodynes. Deleting the fingerboard dots would have been nice too.

I have found Japanese-made Fenders to be generally constructed very well – often better than certain examples of American Fenders, and almost always better than MIM Fenders (and MIM Fenders have got quite good over the years). The electronics are usually sub-par, but the build quality itself is excellent. However, I can't say I've owned a recent example. I have an '85 Strat, a '94 Strat, a '90-something P-Bass body with an AVRI neck, and an '04 Aerodyne Tele, so I'm not exactly sure how they are these days.

I have a Geddy Lee signature jazz and the quality is outstanding, as Japanese attention to detail is world class. I would expect the quality on this P-bass to be awesome. I bought a high quality Fender case to keep my baby in, but the gig bag was actually pretty nice.
