Fender Limited Player Plus x Blu DeTiger Jazz Bass, what?

As far as I know this must be the first ever Made-in-Mexico bass with a chambered body. I don't think Fender has ever offered a chambered body on any American made Fenders let alone one that is a MIM bass. Am I wrong?

Will we be seeing more MIM or MIA chambered Fender basses in the future?

This thread is all about everything but the bass itself...

Can someone speak to the pickup configuration and type and why or why not that is a good idea- it certainly is unique to MY eyes...
Fair point. I, for one, haven't had a chance to try it out, but I do look forward to testing it's ergonomics. As for the pickups, if what they're saying is true, it should be a fairly noiseless sonic suite. I'm curious to see what impact you get from twiddling the EQ's up and down.

The bridge pup seems to be the same doubled Jazz style, if not exactly the same pickup, as those in Fender Blacktop Precisions and the Chinese-made Modern Players. Their owners may have written about their strengths and/or weaknesses over the past ten to thirteen years.

I think those pickups are also found in the Player Plus Meteora.

New video where Blu demos the bass and her pedalboard:

It sounds like a very versatile bass to me.

Quite honestly, it was about time for Fender to put such bass on the market. In my area, many bass players are using a Lakland active jazz bass for its versatility so to me, this Blu Detiger bass fits in the same ball park and maybe a tad better.

That said though, I’m a p bass dinosaur so I’ll stick to it and work on my technique instead.

Saw this video last night. She's impressive. It was fun to see her interact with Tyler, I've seen many of his videos.

I like the fact that her sig bass went a little further than just a special finish on a P or a J.

I wonder if she knows who Dennis Dunaway is. He liked mirror pickguards and more mirrors. ;)

That's right! I'd forgotten about those!

I took a quick peek at both the Meteora and the Blu de Tiger-sig bass' official write-ups. Apparently, Fender is now referring to their doubled-J pickups as "Fireball Pickups", both of which are in the same basses, only Blu's has one with cream covers.

Side-note...calling them "Fireball Pickups" is hardly the worse rebranding I've heard out of a marketing department. I give it a solid "B"..."B+" if the pickups are pretty good or better.

The Spark-O-Matic Jazzmaster and Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster are chambered. Not aware of basses. But they make some chambered MiA guitars. So it’s certainly possible.

For what it's worth, I found one of these basses and played it the other day. It's a killer bass, and honestly the first thing Fender has offered in a long time that makes me want to get one.

I've also seen her live a couple of times and she's a fantastic bass player - much better than a lot of other players that have signature instruments from other brands.

This may been stated farther back in the thread but her social media following has likely had a huge bearing on the Signature Model decision. She’s pretty popular and I’m thinkin it’s not just her bass playing. No disrespect. Pretty, Young, can play, can write, can sing, and has a good size following. Nuf said.
