So pretty much it's $50 rebate off Mexican models (including the GL jazz) and $100 off American or higher quality ones. I may end up trading my MIM jazz and my Sansamo Programmable Bass Driver DI for a GL jazz....once I get that beauty, I won't need to surf Craigslist every single day for another bass.
$50 on MIMs and $100 on MIAs sounds cool, but man, with sooooo many Fender in the used market, if I was right-handed I would never buy a new Fender. . .
True, but I have a hard time finding someone who's willing to sell their GL jazz bass. Understandably so, too. No choice but to go for new and hopefully it doesn't become a bust. And yes, it is every dealer. It's on the Fender website so it should be for every dealer that is authorized to sell Fender guitars and products.
I was 100% planning on getting a MIM std P-Bass with this, but then MF had a scratch n dent that was even cheaper, so I went with that instead.
I jumped on a 70's MIM classic jazz in Sunburst. Nice choice I must say and compliments my MIJ GL. Loving life and my basses right now.
I've been to MF's website but never bought anything from there. I heard something about free shipping but does that apply to ALL purchases regardless of where you buy it?
So I bought a Blacktop Jazz during this sale. Took the risk of buying it online, and it had a warped pickguard, a twisted NECK, and an obvious repair job on the finish. It sounded nice, but I decided to return it. I don't think I will trust another MIM Fender unless I play it. My Squier Jaguar was noticeably better quality. People say that a lot here, but I guess sometimes seeing is believing.
Between the $100 from Fender and Sam Ash.com's Fourth of July sale it was more than I could take. I picked up a second AmStd P5 for only $25 or $50 more than they typically go used.
