Just purchased a Marcus M Jazz over the net for $500.00 w/o case. I am awaiting delivery. Looking for some feedback on $$$ value of bass and any insights into the instrument pro and con.

I went to music store near where I live, I saw this MM Fender JB, I tried and not impressed at all, beside the workmanship is below my expectation, I would say it is below standard, even the letters in the head stock is very rough. The gap in the neck pocket is very obvious.

So far every one I've seen has been consistently well made.

  4. Sold mine on eBay for $700 w months ago!!

Anyway, just wasn't happy with the tone of it. I think it does what it was designed to do, and that's sound like Marcus. But I don't like that tone, too clean or something. This bass didn't have one ounce of growl, or warmth. I will say it's one of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen. Love those pearl block inlays....

maybe you'll like it, who cares what others think?

Search this Forum for previous posts and you'll find some very informative info. Opinions vary depending on individual tastes and the particular bass that the person tried out.

I personally like the sound of the bass. I've played three of them and the quality was decent. They used to go for $769 new at Musicians Friend.

If the bass is in very good condition, I'd say you got a fair price.

Is this the one that was at Bass NW?

It sounds great maybe because I like the high tones, but who cares what someone's says, I think you'll like it, if Marcus like it (It has been like a year since I don't see Marcus playing with this bass)

Workmanship may be below, say, Sadowsky, but it's as good as anything else Fender's got on the market. Either you like Fender or you don't. If you do, you'll like the Miller. I get a good vibe from the ones I've played. I think it growls just fine in passive mode. The Sunburst one is pretty hot. I say good deal. Remember to leave it in passive mode when you're not playing though, since active mode doesn't power off when you unplug.
