I picked up a NOS 2002-03 MIM Fender Deluxe Zone bass the other day. The small store I bought it at had it "lost" in the storeroom for a few years. Paid $499 with gigbag. $950 list
    Heres a quick review..

Sienna (cherry)Sunburst finish is flawless, really.
The neck finish and headstock are flawless.
Xlnt fretwork, very smooth on the edges.
USA deluxe string through body bridge!
    Intonated dead on.
Small sealed Gotoh tuners are smooth and hold tuning.
    Straplock buttons.
The back of the neck pocket is contoured and has a neck tilt adjustment.
Active P and J pickups with 3 band preamp and pickup fader.
The pickups sound fantastic. I am not a huge fan of active basses, but these have mucho tonal possiblities. From ear splitting slap tone to a fat "P" bass sound.
The body is a scaled down "P" body and the neck is 1.5" at the nut, and "J" style. The headstock seems alittle smaller also. Very light weight bass .
The bass in general reminds me of a Musicman Sterling in feel.
The bass feels and looks like a USA model to me.
Much better finish work and hardware than your average Mexico model.
I would use this bass as a main bass. It really is that good.

I give this MIM Fender Deluxe Zone a thumbs up.
