Fender Mustang pickguards: 1972 vs MIJ etc

    I have a ~1972 Mustang.
    It was modified for a Precision pickup.
    I'd like to get back to stock...

    Will a Made in Japan reissue pickguard fit?
    It looks it should. Visually it shows the same hole patter both for mounting and the thumbrest.

    It looks like WD Music and Guitarparts dot com both do pickguards if the MIJ won't work.

    I once owned a 70 something stang with an awful after market guard and bought a replacement made for the MIJ. It fit fine.
