2017 Nate Mendel Precision Bass for sale. This is part of Fender's road worn series so it comes with dings and worn spots from the factory. Weight is 10 lbs even. These feature an ash body, slim neck, rosewood board, medium jumbo frets, high mass bridge, special FF neck plate and Seymour Duncan quarter pounder pickups. Basically a '71 P-bass with some modern mods. This one has had some additional modifications including:

    - EMG GZR "Geezer" pickups installed. I tried a few different pickups with this bass, but when the Geezers were installed it just came to life. They are soldered in, not installed with the quick connectors. Original SD Quarter Pounders can be put back in if you want them.
    - Back of the neck has been sanded lightly to take off the top layer of gloss.

Currently strung with TI flats but I'll put rounds on it unless you want to chip in a little more to keep the TIs (those things are expensive!). Set up for low action, neck is straight and you can set this one up however you like it.

$875 shipped east of the Mississippi, add $25 west of the Mississippi.

I was planning to ship it in a gig bag, which I should have mentioned in the listing. I can supply a hard case but shipping cost will increase. PM me if you are interested.

I have always wondered why this bass (not yours, the Nate Mendel models in general) appears PINK. Like, the base colour being Candy Apple Red, and instruments getting more "yellow" with "aging". Red + yellow should bring it to Orange, but very faintly... but it's going Red, like the finish would get "bluer"... looking at 60s and 70s Fender with the Candy Apple Red finish, it didn't happen. Lovely bass and great sale in any case!! (if someone wanna PM me for a clue !!)

It doesn't look pink in person, more like the "midnight wine" color Fender came out with a few years ago. I believe the red overlays a gold undercoat though, so maybe that shows through more over time?

It doesn't look AS PINK as the pictures probably, BUT this is NOT the first Nate Mendel I see appearing "pink" on pictures. So I'm curious as to what FMIC did on these...

Some new photos, trying to more accurately capture the color:

Just realized that, aside from the rosewood board, I have the 5 string version 20211004_155537.jpg

Are those EMG's passive or active?

Passive. The EMG GZRs get a lot of love around here. They are consistently listed among the best Precision pickups on the market.

what did they give you over the SD tone wise?

More mids. The SDs have a lot of low end but can sound scooped in the mids in my opinion. Of course lots of people love the SD Quarter Pounders and it depends a lot on the rest of your signal chain as well.
