Fender P-Bass Mods

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Masterbasser71, Jun 28, 2003.

  1. Hey,
I have a Fender Precision Bass in Arctic White with Black Pickguard. These are mods I consider doing:
    New Pickups
    Gold Badass II bridge
    Gold Hardware:
    Knobs
    Pickguard Screws
    Machine Heads
    Bridge Covers
    Thumbrest

Where online can I get the gold hardware? And do you think it would look cool? What kind of pickups should I get? Maybe some Seymour Duncans? Give me your knowledge. Thanks

Id recommend duncan quarter pounds PU's

As for the gold hardware...i dunno where online you can get it.
And in my opinion im not really a gold hardware fan. But if you think you'll like it...go for it.

I've got DiMarzio P-Replacment Pickups in my MIM P, and I absolutley love them. They have a great sound IMO. You can get parts at stewmac and also from warmoth. The pickups are widely avaliable, they can even be gotten from musician's friend.

White is a cool color to mod,i would go with a red t-shell p/gaurd,it looks great with the gold h-ware.a bad-ass will give you the sustain and brighten the middle and highs, but i would go with Dimarzio p-bass p-ups.they add a vintage sound while giving the cutting edge punch that we need to bore through the geetar:D . I have them on my jazz special and they really put the finishing touches on my up-grades,especially with the B.A. bridge, they go well together.;) i did all these mods on my japanese jazz along with a frett leveling and could'nt be happier.Fender Rulezzzzzzzzzzzza:bassist:

How about the 62' p-bass pickups, ive heard good things about those.

  7. i installed a 62 jazz pickup in my warwick. omg. "New Pickups" are you going to add another pickup to, so u have two or just change out the one. if u are i say go with stack knobs, volume for each and tone for each. or maybe add a preamp.

Have you considered putting a Hipshot Model A bridge on there? They are killer!

You can find the 62's at Guitar center or Musicians friend. I've never used them, but i heard they are good.

Where is the best place to get a badass bridge?

I got mine on ebay. New, Quick shipping, awesome addition.
