are these the same pups? My ears say, "no". I have a MIM P that sounds "ok", but just received an American P and I gotta say this bass sounds KILLER...tons of grind and tone!

what do they put in MIM P's?
what do they put in American P's?

  2. What year? Things always change...

    Short answer:
different pups. One of the many differences between MIM & MIA
Go to Fender dot com & look at the spec sheets for each (depending on year) & you can compare part #'s to find which bass had which pup then search the net for info on those specific pups. Fender has alot of information in their customer suppot section.

Good point about different pups for different years, however both of these basses are 2011/12, so, within the past couple months.

I did check the Fender site, but they really dont mention anything past "American Delux split-coil" vs. "Deluxe split-coil"

Anyone "behind the scenes" that knows the difference?
