Fender Player P Bass with the wrong neckplate

Just looking for some quick advice here.

I bought a new Fender Player P (the marketing departments way of saying MIM) from a reputable and authorized dealer. I knew the colour I wanted which wasn't on the showroom floor but in stock on their website. The gentleman at the store said he pulled it out of the box in the back. The bass feels great and comfortable which is definitely better than any other MIM I remember playing in the past. Problem is, I realized that all "Player Series" are advertised to have the "F logo" on the neck-plate.

I checked the serial and it comes up as it should - a Fender Player P which matches the serial on my receipt.

While I don't necessarily care about such a fine detail no one but me will see, I am questioning if maybe some other hardware might have been switched by the store? Or is this something that can get missed when manufactured?

    Should I do anything?

While I didn't buy a bass to resell it...it might hurt the resell value?

Ask the store you bought it from about the detail.

The pictures on musicianfriend and Sweetwater both show blank neck plates.

Fender's website is ******* or I'd send the direct link but here's a screenshot to their marketing for the bass.

I'm having doubts as to the instruments pedigree....

I just looked at three on Sweetwater and they all had F logos.

Most compound eyes do lack the acuity of human eyes by a considerable margin.

Well if my options come down to driving back to the store or ordering the plate online, I'm just going to order the plate. I'm just more curious if I should be worried about a bigger problem here.

  11. I don’t think you should be worried.
It was most likely an oversight at the factory.
A blank plate was probably accidentally placed in the bin with etched plates.
The assembly person just grabbed it and installed it without noticing

It falls under “the manufacturer may change specifications without notice” clause

The tech could have had it apart and replaced it with another plate by accident. I'd bet it is just more likely a factory slip-up though.

Maybe it was assembled with the plate upside down and the etched side is against the body..

Compound eyes are found on insects, no? I thought Gorn had eyes similar to earth reptiles...which are OBVIOUSLY the best eyes for metal

If you’re gonna order one, you may as well go the custom route with a nice Kermit the Frog etching or something. Can’t beat Kermit tho. Dude is a legend.

I am trying to decode the Avatar which in my mind suggests insect-like compound eyes. But I can’t find my reading glasses.

But thanks to the google machine I rest my case...
