    Hi,

I just get this P Bass neck from Ebay for my Precision project...well this neck looks too new to me for 1977 neck. What do you think?...is this piece real Fender 1977 Precision neck? (nut was changed) Thank you for comments W.

Thank you!...well the fret board has some marks, tuners looks new, but other side of this neck looks very very clean, maybe refinish?

those tuners look way too clean compared to the string-tree.

The serial # looks right, S7 would be 1977. The Veneer rosewood board is right for that year. Neck adjustment at the heal looks right also. Maybe the tuners are replacements.

That's because in mid 76 the tuners went from nickel plated to being chrome plated. So they are going be very shiny compared to some small parts that were still nickel plated.

Also chrome doesn't age and patina like nickel.

man. you're making me feel old. I'll have you know that I am a '77 model human being and I have shiny parts and worn out parts, but I'm all original. so this is normal. I even checked in the mirror the other day and I found a "TORRES" stamp that I'd never noticed.

my birth certificate also shows a 1978 birth year, but in those days the preprinted a whole buttload of birth certificates and they would just grab whichever one was handy when they sent you home with your parents. my mom tried to return me because I was an 11lber and she'd specifically requested a sub nine pounder, but babies varied a lot more in those days.

  18. Funny stuff...probably not the most unpopular combination, but still – despite pickup, input-solution and whatever bridge will be on there – I jut had a small déjà vu there... here's my main bass:
