someone has a 1963 fender precision (or the 63 custom shop)? I like to modify my jazz bass to a j/p hybrid and i will install the pure vintage 63 precision pickup.
now i need the exact(!) position of the pickup.
someone has one of these basses and can let me know?
    thanks a lot!

Can measure a '61 P bass if you'd like - distance from nut to pickup center line.

  3. As far as I'm aware the pickup position has never changed so you could measure the position of the split-coil and any PBass and be correct.

    thanks for this info!

so TomB, thanks a lot for your offer(!), could you measure it for me? the scale is the same i think, so from the 12.fret should be enough.
ps: you have 61 p-bass? great!

C0EFC9CF-2D82-41CA-8D61-79EDB64F4B03. On my ‘61 the distance from the 12th fret to the centerline of the pickup is 11-3/4”.
