    Help needed here.

I own a highway 1 Pbass, I changed the pickguard and the bridge to have a vintage look, but now, a friend of mine is thinking to sell his fender precision '78, I asked him for a trade and he want my Highway and 120 bucks, what do you think?

I've been looking the pictures he sent me and everything seems legit, but I have my doubts about the neck-plate, and the tuners...

    What do you think?

Some knowledgeable Fender people can chime in but for some reason, that headstock: logo, finish, appearance just seems off. It's also missing a part from the D string tuner.

The body color & PG seems odd for a '78. Even a parts bass of that age would show a bit more wear or finish aging. There's no finish checking on the headstock either.

    Hopefully others can help too.

That "78" is a fake. Decal, neck, tuners, body.. all wrong.

Only looking at the serial, seems as though it is a 79 or early 80s bass.

You can see a wood seam on the back of the headstock. Not a Fender.
