God, I hate to do this and I'm not even sure I really want to.

But....I picked up a beautiful mint Fender '53 Reissue Sting precision bass from Prastheparadox. Absolutely no issues. Tobacco burst, white pickguard. Some minor pick scratches on the pickguard - only noticeable up close with the pickguard angle on the light just right. HSC in great condition. I also ordered a black pg from Bryan Boots (not arrived yet). I gigged with this for part of a set two weekends ago, otherwise just some practicing. Great tone; its beauty is in its stage appearance and its tonal simplicity. (Got a nice compliment on the bass's appearance and tone from a bass player in another band who happened to be at the gig). Full and tight low end. Low action and plays like a dream.

I really want a USA Fender Jazz and would consider one in good shape with low action in trade if you have one.

Otherwise, the Sting Precisions are going for $500-600 on Ebay, so I'll ask $540 shipped which includes the HSC and the black pickguard when it arrives.

BTW, it's a '56 RI, not a '53. Nice bass if it's at all like the others I've tried. Someone will be very happy with it.

I didn't think $590 was out of line shipped including the HSC and an extra pg, but OK.

$560 shipped includes HSC and extra black pg.

Any chance you'd be interested in trading for a BTB 405 (5 string) quilt top that is absolutely pristine? I boughtin in March and can't get used to the wide string spacing, although some people want it just for the wide spacing. I don't have a hard case for it. Has a set of Elixir roundwounds that go for 40 or 50 bucks.

I'll keep that in mind if nobody ponies up a jazz bass or cash. Thanks, man.

Maybe that BTB is singing your name? It's a transparent black quilt top. The variety of sound is amazing.
    Anyway, here's a bump... :p

Well I got the black pg from Bryan Boots today, put 'er on, and she looks so sweet now, I'm taking her off the market. Your loss is my gain.

How much was the pickguard, and how do you contact Bryan Boots? It does look sweet.

His prices vary, but are very reasonable. I'd rather not post his email addy, but his username is dazbootman on Ebay. He does nice work.
