What's the buzz?
I think I need to try one.... Anyone seen it in person yet?
bumpin it for the morning crew....
Anyone seen or more importantly heard one? Anyone else think it looks good in the specs?
I certainly think it looks good in the specs, I would love to hear it/play through it.
That is cool. It is probably a copy off of the SWR IOD.
maybe, but I think Fender has an OK past for bass pre amps... isn't the Alembic and others built off the Bassman tone stack?
either way I DEFINATELY want to test drive one!
That was my first thought, but looking at the specs it seems more like the IOD. I'd like to try one though.
Is there a price on this yet?
no idea of the price, I'll bug the local fender guy next week.
Anyone give it a spin @ NAMM?
Why would that be? Sure, SWR is now under Fender, but Fender has a history of staying out of the way of its child companies, at least as far as I can see.
Try telling that to anyone at Guild. Like SWR, it's ceased to be an independent manufacturing entity. What US SWR stuff is still made is made by Fender in Corona. The rest (Workingman's) is made by Fender in their Mexican plant and the LA series stuff is outsourced to Indonesia.
*bump's thread with a funky little groove in F#*
I guess no one has seen/heard/tried one yet huh?
It looks to be the preamp section from the Bassman 1200 (formerly the Sunn 1200s). I personally like the preamp out of the Bassman 400 better (yes, even though it is totally solid state), but that is just IMO.
The Bassman 1200 (or Sunn 1200s) has a ton of power though, so if you like the preamp and can find a decent deal on one of these, jump on it!
Fender's MO sometimes, is to wait until they have enough orders from dealers before they put things into production, so there might not be anything but prototypes right now.
they are starting to show on some online venders.... anyone try this yet?
The Local shop says I can order one but they aren't gonna stock them.
I am wrong. It is more along the lines of the Bassman 400 or 400 Pro preamp.
I still haven't seen one yet in person though.
List on the new Fender pre (according to the new issue of Bassplayer) is $857.00 US. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out. Fender is capable of doing good stuff if they set their minds to it.
google searching for info found it for sale @ $599 and up... none of the big places seem to have it yet though
Here's what brianrost (I think he's a user here too?) said over on the Fender Forum:
Anyway: looks cool to me too, but I've got too many preamps as it is and I seriously doubt it's gonna beat my #1 (Read Purity)
Thanks Guys! The Read looks nice, I may end up that way some day... I think this Fender will be my next purchase, well if it lives up to what I assume it will (and if anyone actually gets one).
