I've switched to short-scale basses exclusively, otherwise I'd be hanging on to this for two reasons--I like it a lot, and I think these will appreciate in value.

For those who don't know, the Squier Pro-Tones are the Korean equivalent of the MIJ basses of the 80s--Fender went to Korea to start production in the mid-90s, but the instruments were "too good" and they feared they'd eat into the sales of MIA/MIJ stuff, so they shut the line down after two years.

This is a very nice neck, especially for the money. Straight, truss rod moves smoothly. I consider the quality of work and materials to be between MIM & MIJ. The back of the neck has some shallow nicks (see photos), and one edge of the skunk stripe protrudes *ever so slightly* if you run your finger over it fret-wise. It's pretty common and won't bother most players, but if you're OCD then you might want to pass on this one. Overall the neck looks and feels great, legit.

Reduced to $180 shipped in CONUS.

It says precision bass on the headstock. Is it a jazz or precision neck?

It's configured like a Precision Special--PJ pickups w/a jazz neck, "Precision" on the headstock.

I'm not the OP but I have the same amazing bass. The neck is a 1.5" jazz neck and the body is a p-bass body with P-J pickups. Not sure why, but the headstock does indeed say precision on it. Very nice bass.

    GLWTS OP!

Love my Protone P5. I wouldn't mind having a 4 banger to complete the set, but have no need for another 4 string. Yes the quality of Protones is a great value, and they are pretty rare!
