Just bought a fender road worn p-bass body and wanted some opions on this body. Also wanted some advice on buying a nice playing neck, pups, tuners.

    Thanks

  2. Did you pick up that one on eBay that someone took a belt sander to?

Opinions on the RWs, few as they are so far, seem to have been favorable. As far as the rest of your question, what are you looking to achieve?

I thinking on building a fender per-cbs bass. I like the Pre-CBS tone.

I was thinking about using CURTIS NOVAK PICKUPS-and wire harness from http://www.guitar-mod.com. The tuners maybe Aged" Gotoh Bass Tuning Keys-set Pre-CBS style

Not sure about the neck, I'm thinking rosework fret board.
    Help please.

    Thanks

The body is sunburst. Why maple board?

Ok, so which pickups would come close to the Pre-CBS tone.
I was thinking CURTIS NOVAK PICKUPS. Should the pots be 250k or 500k and what cap shoud be used.

I say maple neck, gold harware, Fender Classic CS 60's pups.

  10. If Fener does not know how to make pre-cbs pickups, who does. And, they are cheap.
    And, they are Fenders.

No. I don't know anything about the Novak pickups.

I have extremely strong opinions about the "relic" concept. I've already been chastised for expressing those opinions in the "Basses" forum, so I'm shutting the hell up in here.

Very good point Rocky McDougall. Thanks

Do you fell the same way about Jazz pickups?

Find pre CBS strings and pre CBS pickups to achieve pre CBS tone.

You can have a bass of paper mache with those two features and no one will be able to tell.

    ...also biting my tongue.

what's the best way to do the wire harness:

Pre-made harness or buy the parts and make it.

    Thanks
