Hi all, my Fender Rumble 40 v3 developed an intermittent problem, where the sound of my bass goes from normal to much lower and distorted then back to normal, then low. I bought this amp used so it is not covered by any Fender warranty. I'd like to repair it myself. I suspect the problem resides on the preamp board and may be caused by a bad solder joint or intermittent op-amp chip. A schematic would be so helpful in the diagnosis of this issue. Does anyone know where I could obtain one? Thanks..
F.M.I.C. hasn't released any of the V3 Rumble schematics online yet, as I'm sure you've noticed. Have you called Fender and asked for a pdf? If you know someone at an authorized Fender service center they might run off a copy for you, or just call the service center and ask, but that's about it.
Thanks for your response Linnin. Sure I did hunt online for a schematic.pdf, also I emailed Fender customer service for the same, but have not received a response. The way my amps problem comes and goes frequently makes me think there is a ratty solder connection some where. Close examination and poking around while running an audio signal has not uncovered anything. Pretty sure the problem resides in the preamp section. Flakey op-amps could cause symptoms like this but I am inclined to think the problem would be of a longer duration and not so intermittent if it were a failing IC. The search continues...
None of my 8 Fenders over the past 46 years have ever given me a problem. But when life gives me problems I do drink heavily. It doesn't help, but it is fun. For a while.
