    Damn! Beat me to it.
    That tobacco Sunburst is sa-weet!
  3. Oh oh! Gotta try to get me one of these, but they probably won't ship out of the country.

Might have to call in a favour.

  4. is the assumption only musician's friend will sell them?

Looks like a Mike Dirnt Pbass with a maple neck. I used to have a MDP, it was MIM, kinda heavy, but also the best sounding bass Ive ever owned.

Exactly what I was thinking! I had the MIM version in black. The tone was okay, by the neck felt wonderful. Back then, the price new was only about half of what this one is going for, though.

Probably the same body as the MIM Cabronita. That's a damn good value and it looks the biz as well. These will sell fast.

Liking the looks of these. Not that I need one in any way.
  12. Every time I see telecaster-style bass with split P pickup, I always remember that time I almost sold my 60th Anniversary Precision...

Got me one and she's up-graded ! Added a Mike Dirnt Loaded Pickguard w/ the 59 Custom Shop Pickup. No wonder the stock pickup wasn't cutting the mustard. It was cheaply made w/ ceramic bar magnets glued to the back and only wound to 4.9 K. The 59 CS is wound to a warm 10.85 K. The Black Pickguard looks much better to me. Also added a Babicz Bridge. This is a Bad-Ass $700 Fender Tele Bass !

It's almost perfect. I'm waiting on the string ferules to be delivered to install and modify the Babicz Bridge to make it String Thru.
Then it will be perfect, IMO.
  16. Edbo - what is the neck like as far as width and thickness? I imagine it is basically a standard mexican neck specs and not a thick neck like the Dirnt? I have been contemplating a Dirnt, but hate to spend that kind of cash on a Fender that is not US. Although I hear the quality is excellent. Just came across these tonight and you built almost the exact bass I had pictured in my head.

    I really Love this Bass.
The Spec's say 1.625" nut width but, mine measures 1.59".
Is the thickness measured on top of the strings ?

String thru Ferules are installed and ordered a Fender Case for it.

  19. Interesting... If all are 1.59" that makes it even more appealing.

Not sure of the Dirnt specs as I havent been able to find a measurements other than calling it "Thick C". A Fender replacement neck from Mexico has the following Neck Thickness: 1st Fret - .820” (20.82 mm), 12th Fret - .870” (22.09 mm).

I think I still prefer the Classic Vibe version with the pine body, the vintage single-coil pickup, and the price when I first bought it (almost half of what this one is selling for). If this design was good enough for Leo, it's good enough for ME!
