I have two quick questions. does fender make tube bass amps anymore??
and also when you use and amp as a monitor and play through the PA, are you just having the amp infront of you so only you can here it??

  2. Apart from the Sunn 1200s (hybrid), and 300T (all tube) which are now made under license by Fender (like DeArmond), nope...

As for stage ~vs~ FOH sound (assuming you're not using the amp only to provide bass to the audience):

    - if you're miking your amp, what you hear will be (similar) to what the audience does
    - if you're DI'ing directly into the desk, then your amp becomes a monitor for yourself and anyone else nearby only. If you can run 2 cabinets, some people pop one either side of the stage, so the whole band can monitor/hear the bass.
    - depending on the PA and it's monitors, some sound engineers will put a bass signal back to the monitors for the rest of the band (especially the drummer) - doesn't happen very often as most stage wedge monitors can't handle the bass' low-end too well...
