Fender US Geddy Jazz availability

    All -

    I've been leaning more and more towards buying one of these basses new, but all of the major online retailers I've looked at, including Fender.com, show them as out of stock or back ordered. Anybody have any information on this apparent lack of availability?

    I don’t have any concrete information but I would suppose the global pandemic might have some effect on supply chain.

    I'm sure that's a primary reason. I've understood these basses sell pretty well and so the apparent lack of inventory was a little surprising, despite the pandemic.

    I do not think Fender makes a lot of American Geddy’s. It is a specialty instrument, and the MIM Geddy sells in much higher numbers since it is about $700 cheaper. Covid19 has sure affected the Fender supply chain.

    Decided to inquire with my local shop in Atlanta (Maple Street Guitars) and they found out via Fender rep, that they starting to produce these again. Other posters were correct that Fender focused on more 'standard' guitars, american pro, etc during the pandemic. The Geddys should be shipping out in early September.

    I'm really leaning towards putting an order in. I've got an AVRI '64 Jazz and Fender 9050L flats just work with that bass. Looking to add a Jazz with rounds to the stable that includes an AVRI '63 P and a MM SR Special.

    Everything I've read/heard indicates these are great basses. Any more comments on these?

    I just got mine yesterday from Sweetwater. I had one on order for a month. The date kept getting pushed back . Decided to check the website and saw a demo/ factory 2nd had just come in. I snatched it up because the discount was great . One little 1/2 inch scratch that is barely seen. I had to really search to find it.
    This bass is phenomenal !!

    Bass Central called me yesterday too. They are my local store. They also got one of these factory 2nd models in. Also heavily discounted . Give them a call. You won’t find another new one for a few months.
