This is a 1999 Fender MIA Hot Rod Precision, which has the P/J set up. Fender made these for a few years back then. Oly white with maple board, weighs a little under 9 lbs. and will come with a gig bag. The original neck has been replaced with a Fender USA precision neck from 2004. There are a few player marks on the bass, mostly on the back. Nothing to worry about, just cosmetic and pretty minor in my opinion. There is a small chip on the edge of the fretboard on the E string side, but I don't even feel it or notice it when playing. Smoke-free, pet-free environment. Will sell and ship, insured, in the CONUS only, and Paypal is preferred. As for trade offers, there is nothing I need or want. Now reduced to $650, a great price for this one.

Forgot to mention, I have a brand new, unopened AllParts red tort pickguard for this bass that will be included. Just haven't gotten around to putting it on yet.

  4. Nice looking bass. Any closer-up photos of the neck pocket?

Things have changed with another recent bass addition, so this is back up for sale ONLY. Lowered price to make this a great deal and hopefully move this one to a happy new owner soon.

Whats the diff between a 'hot rod' precision and the American Standard Precisions?

The Hot Rod was produced by Fender for a few years back then, not sure how many but maybe 3-4 years or so. It is basically an American Standard P bass with an added J pickup. Controls are V/V/T and it's passive.

How high is the action? And if you lower it does it cause any fret buzz?

I'd say the current set up is medium. I haven't tweaked it at all, but I would expect it can be lowered without trouble.

How in the wide world of sports is this still available?

  14. FYI, I owned this body in the not so distant past..literally this body (I put the J knobs on it). The tone and versatility of this bass is incredible, I'm just a jazz bass body guy. Someone's going to get a killer bass with this one.

  15. Below was my description of the body:

1999 Fender American Standard Hotrodded Precison Bass body, string through bridge, US j bass knobs, schaller strap lock buttons, brand new Fender us pickguard. Minor wear on body as shown in pics. This does notsuffer from the dreaded volume/pick up output of some Fender US p/j basses, the pick up volumes are consistent, and it has a ton of tonal options. This bass is a volume/volume/tone set up and no hum whatsoever regardless of individual pick up volume..plus it's string through, a bonus in my book.

    For what it's worth.

Folks, that's a really nice bass for the money.
    I play something very similar.
