I finally finished my Fenderbird! I bought a 1997 Epiphone Non Reverse Thunderbird off my guitarist and really went to town. It took me a long time to complete (stupid full time job always getting in the way), but I took it to practice on Sunday and it sounds and plays great!

    It went from this...

    To this!

Mighty Mite neck, DiMarzio Model P, Peavey T40, Gotoh bridge, new hardware, Chromes! It plays and sounds amazing! Normally I don't brag on my own midget, but I'm really thrilled with the way it turned out--actually playable!

Cool project. I really dig the Peavey pickup in place of the little Jazzer, nice move.

Holt Crap man! That came out GREAT!!
How's the sound? Maybe one more mod- put in a coil splitter for the T-40 pickup so you can run it single coil. OR a series/parallel switch!

I'll bet you'll be kicking my old Yamaha to the curb in favor of this sexy new wench, eh?

But seriously- kudos man- looks AWESOME!

The style of the pickguard just demands a big honking something there. I went T40 because I found one for 20 bucks.

Next up--a Les Paul, sadly. But I'm putting a Bigsby on it!

Thanks Ken! It's got a LOT of bottom, and very aggressive. Fits right in with my band!

Plus, I kind of like the originality of it. Not saying there aren't others, but there can't be TOO MANY others...

I think it looks great! I love a vintage white finish and you did a great job of the whole getup.

Wow. Nice job! Hard to believe it is the same body. I bet it sounds hot with that T40 - how does it blend with the p pup?

We are recording demos of some of our new songs this weekend. If I can figure out how to post a track I'll do it (probably bass to VT to computer).

Edit: You will have to suffer hearing the rest of the band of course.

It adds some zing to the tone--nothing too drastic, but just enough. It's pretty loud for a passive bass (compared to my highway one P bass).

What'd you end up doing with the old neck? Or was it totaled?
