FENDERS Galore... 56kers beware!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Gregory, Jul 28, 2003.

  1. I just received a black Fender American Standard Precision bass for my 19th birthday. It is my first bass and I am looking forward to getting good with it.

I have also included pictures of my dad's Fender Jazz and Stratocaster.

  3. It's actually more of a maroonish color... I took these with my digital video camera so the stills kinda suck. I'm not really sure what controls he has on it, but I know that each knob is really like two knobs. I think the chrome ones are volume and pickups but there are two adjustable black knobs beneath the chrome ones, I'm not sure what they do.

    They are concentric knobs.......

Top is volume, bottom is tone

    1 for each pickup.

My guess would be it is an MIJ re-issue of the stack-knob J, looking at the ground wire to the bridge.

    Nice instruments, Gregory!

    Practice lots!!:D

  9. Yeah I am really grateful. My dad is a jazz FANATIC and bass is his favorite instrument. I guess he figured since I had been playing his 24/7 I should have my own. Wouldn't have expected this one though!

It's a beauty, Gregory! I also have an American P bass (circa 2000, just after it was introduced) and I LOVE it. You just can't go wrong with a good P bass.

    Good luck and enjoy it,

    Tom

YOur dad must be like J. Jamerson - judging by the pickguard. ' The dirt keeps the funk. ' I can see that bass gets PLAYED.

    Nice instruments all. :bassist:

  13. I was just looking through the newest Fender catalog... there are so many cool basses in there...

Anyway I saw my dad's and it's an American Vintage Series '62 Jazz bass.

    Very cool first bass :)

Here's a bit of old fart wisdom, you're going to be really bummed 20 years from now that you ever sold that great old p bass.

Or you're smarter than all of us and you're going to keep it.
