I am not sure if it is vol/vol/tone
    or
    vol/blend/tone..

I intend to upgrade the bridge, tuners, and pickups.

Deciding between this with some nice upgrades, or just a straight up Aerodyne.

I played this exact model in a store about a year ago and if memory serves its a tone/volume/volume knob configuration. I didn't spend too much time with it, I spend alot of time hanging around my local guitar store and I happened to stumble across it so I picked it up and plugged it in a Crate 50 watt amplifier. I remember liking its construction and worksmanship.

Oh by the way, are you sure its made from Japan. If I remember correctly its made in China. I played both the Fernandes Gravity 4x and Tremor 4x(both in the same price bracket as the Retrospect 4X) and both had a "Made in China" sticker at the back of its headstock.
