Limited Edition Fibenare 10th Anniversary Edition Globe Bass (#1 of 10) In 2008, in celebration of 10 years in business, Fibenare released an extremely limited run of 10th Anniversary Edition Globe Basses. This is #1 of 10 built (“10th Anniversary 28-08 #1” appears on back of headstock). The Fibenare brothers really went all out on these basses, which sold for $7,500. The build quality, feel, playability and sound of this bass are exceptional, and it has a truly killer B string (feels like a 35” scale B). Definitely on par with my Roscoe SKB Custom, but lighter and even better balanced. I got the bass as part of a trade for a one-of-a-kind custom PRS Archtop that was built for PRS endorsed artist who is the front man for a very well known band. I knew I when I traded for this bass that I would be selling it because the width of the neck is more than I can handle and I have reached a point where I have to restrict myself to shorter scale basses due to physical limitations resulting from spinal damage/surgeries and a bizarre hand injury involving a venomous sea critter! Even so, it is so nice I’ve been seriously tempted to keep it, but I know that would be a foolish decision, so... I’m looking to trade for a high quality, light weight (under 9lbs) short or medium scale (from 30" up to 32” scale) plus cash. I would prefer a 5-string lined fretless, but would consider the right short scale 4-string lined fretless or short scale 5-string fretted bass. I would also consider trading for a vintage Fender bass (pre-1970 only, preferably a ‘64 or early ‘65 model). I would put the trade value at $4,500 for the Fibenare and the Aero case. Thanks for looking! What model do you have, and have you played any others? What are the things you like most about yours? Anything significant about it you don’t like? This is the first Fibenare I’ve ever touched and it is truly impressive. I’m surprised that they are not much more well known. I‘m still somewhat new to the bass world, but I spend a fair amount of time on TB and reading stuff elsewhere on line and I wasn’t even aware they existed before this one was offered to me as a trade.
I had a Globe... see pictures below... I loved the feel, the balance, the playability, the attention to detail. The EQ seemed right too. The only thing I didn't care for was the volume roll off. I think the previous owner may have changed the volume pot. My #1 and #2 are Fodera's. I will occasionally buy a new bass, try it out for a while then flip it. I really enjoyed this bass... a lot!
Nice bass! Fodera is one of the big name boutique basses I’ve never played. How do you think the quality to the Fibenare compared to your Foderas?
Great seller / trader, who just happens to be a super human being, and a wonderful bass. Deal with confidence here. Koog
I worked in an immediately adjacent NAMM booth a few years ago. Beautiful instruments and extremely cool people. Best of luck with your sale!
Thanks, Tim. I’m trying the reduce the number, but every time I turn around it seems like there are more of them, and they are all much nicer than I could possibly justify. I may have an impulse control problem.
