What does it mean when frets have been "filed and dressed"? "Filed" I assume means, "to make all frets even in height", but "dressed"?

    Thanks.

My apologies to the moderator, I fully intended to post this in "Setup". Not quite sure how I got it stuck in "Basses".

"Filing" just gets the frets down to the proper height; it doesn't make them look very pretty. "Dressing" involves getting rid of the filing marks, rounding the crowns and polishing the frets so that they look perfect.
