    why would you file your frets down? what does it do? someone suggested it.

    The fretboard wood can push frets up, strings wear grooves into them. That can cause fretbuzz and makes it difficult to achieve a good setup.
    Solution: Filing the frets so that all frets have the same height again.

    There's a German company that deloped a computer-controlled machine that can do this.
