Is it better to have a power amp for a bass rig that has filters & clip limiters on board than it is to have an amp without them? I'm thinking QSC RMX 850 to a CROWN CE1000.

There are lots of different reasons to buy a particular amp: price, quality, power, features, etc. The presence of limiters and filters doesn't necessarily make one amp a better buy than another: one needs to weigh *all* the variables.

If all else is equal and amp A has more features than amp B, then amp A is likely the better choice. But it's pretty rare that all else is equal!

At the end of the day, the ultimate clip limiter is between your ears! Watch for peak/clip lights, and simply adjust your level accordingly . . . .
