Yep, that's right. Long requested, finally here!

The Eden Navigator and Sadowky Outboard Preamp/DI soundclips have been posted on http://basstasters.com

Huge thanks to JerryJ and Mr. Roger Sadowsky himself for providing the preamps!

You'll be pleasantly surprised, these two sound pretty darn amazing.

Coming next week - effects shootout, stage 1!

    Thanks

Some general comments on these pre's:

Navigator: TONS of flexibility with all those knobs, but can take quite a bit of tweaking to get the sound you want. Has the genuine eden sound if that's what you like.

Sadowsky: Nice box for some added tone-shaping capability. Voiced differently than the Sadowsky on-board pre, so you can use it to fatten up the sound quite a bit. Would work awesome to liven up a passive bass.

Let us know what you guys think!

not to give Van and Josh anymore work than they've exhaustively already done, but you know it'd be really cool to hear how the little Aguilar preamp box and John East's J-Retro stomp box sounds along side the Sadowsky and Sansamp.

    anyone, anyone? :D

So can you use the Sadowski as a "real" preamp, i.e. take the 1/4" or xlr straight into a power amp (QSC, Stewart, etc) and go? Does it put out enough juice for that, or do you need to go into another preamp first like with the Sansamp BDDI?

i was thinking, the sadowsky bass samples were all done with the onboard EQ flat, right?

or was the bass tweaked to sound best, while the preamps themselves were set flat?

kinda started to wonder, cause the sadowsky on sadowsky preamp comparison seemed to be almost redundant.

  14. Anyone know where I can get myself a Sadowsky outboard to "liven up" my passive bass?
    Preferably for cheap?

there's one used on bassgear.com right now i think...

and they're a great value direct from Roger... (which is why you don't see the new outboard on ebay that much)

Have you used the Sadowsky outboard straight into a power amp? If so what were your opinions?

I want to use it as a preamp with a power amp and speaker cab.

I can't see there's much point in this....

I own a Sadowsky outboard premp and it is very different depending on what you use it with - it all depends on the bass and setup.

So - this was obviously designed for passive J-basses and it does add a certain "something" that just has to be heard - it's subtle and not that noticable - but makes a big difference, when you are actually playing.

But on an active bass, like my pre_Gibson Tobias - it does absolutely nothing - complete waste of time!

So my point is that all this can never be conveyed by sound clips....so I can't see the point...

It should have plenty of output. If you have an active bass you should get a good amount of output from your bass to run the amp. It won't run it like a preamp would, but with the sadowsky I would think it should.

I think so too, I'll contact Sadowsky, just in case I'm wrong.
