So after playing on a Rogue 4(8 years) and then a washburn xb125 (3 years) I've moved on.

I found a Peavey Cirrus 4 banger for 649 at a local music shop.
Really hard to beat that price.

It's pretty damn versatile and plays smooth, I just hate the color:

So show me your cirrus, or suggest ways to alter this flaming beast :hyper:

and i'm getting rid of that hideous gold hardware.
  2. if you hate the color why did you get it?

did you miss the part where i talked about the basses i've been playing?

    plus we're recording.

i don't really give a **** about looks when it comes to better tone.

    haha it's growing on me...

I agree the way it plays and sounds is more important than how it looks (in almost every case, anyway), but I think it's a gorgeous bass.

I hear you on the trans red. I wasn't overly fond of trans red, but the bass that I fell for is trans red and it's totally growing on me. But a bright trans red like that (and on my bass) is very eye-catching and will draw attention to you, so you'd better be sick tight 'cuz all eyes will be on the bright red riding hood.

And, yeah, feel, playability, and tone override looks/color. A skilled bassist can make a hideous bass appear beautiful.

Peavey makes some hot basses. I've not played a Cirrus, but I have played a Fury 6 and it's killer.

Congrats on such an awesome bass at a doubly awesome price.

I like the finish and the hardware is fine with me, but satin chrome hardware on that would look absolutely dreamlike, dude.

By the by -- GREAT price! Good call, dude, I'd love to get a Cirrus for that price.
  9. A world class bass for under $700!!! Who gives a RAT'S ASS what color it is!!! Nice score talk about upgrading!!!
Btw, I think the color is pretty cool and agree black hardware would look ultra cool.
Oh yeah I have a Redwood 6er that I adore. One of these days I'll take some decent pix of her. I can never get the grain to show right.

Very nice! I like it. I almost bought a fretless 5 Cirrus in transparent red.
I like gold hardware, but I know a lot of people don't. If you decide to sell the hardware, it should bring a decent amount. New, that bridge goes for around $100, and the tuners are easily worth $50.

You said to post pics of mine, so here you go!:D

    Welcome to the Cirrus club.
    You´ll never be disapointed.
Try to figure out that´s a very Responsive bass.
That means that will show your technique (good or bad) transparently. Also consider that pups and pre are very
sensitive, so the place you attack the strings (closer to the necker or bridge) will alter your tone a lot.
Take to a time to find your tone before recording (I´ll be recording too pretty soon, so I´m facing the same situation)

    BTW, here´s mine.

Awesome Bass, Awesome price. I love my Cirrus 4 and would love it no matter what color it is. Call Peavey and talk to or e-mail a Tech. They are very helpful and would tell you how to strip that red and make it natural. If thats the color you want. I think it is fine the way it is. Welcome to the Cirrus lovers club.
