Finally my ebay bass is here ... now a few questions ..

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by bassguitar, Dec 7, 2005.

  1. Well it finally arrived - my 80's Japanese Fender P. So far so good, though it needs new strings and the pots are a bit scratchy. When I get the strings I'm going to try to clean the pots - if they're still scratchy I'll replace them. I think I'm going to get a new pickguard and an ashtray too just because.

I'd like to give it a good cleaning. What should I use for:
the fingerboard/bass? tung oil? - I obviously don't want it "oily"

Get some fretboard lemon oil (they should be on sale at your guitar shop, costing around 4-5 pounds.. 11 dollars??) for the fretboard, and just clean the body and tuners and bridge with a dry clean cloth.
