I have an Ibanez GSR200 and would like to find out how old it is. Anyone have an idea how to do this? The serial # starts with an I and indicates it was made in Indonesia but that's all I know.:meh:

I don't remember the exact site, but you'll probably find it by putting in Ibenez or dating guitars or something like that. I've run across it before and it's very helpful. Let us know if you can't find it - someone on here may know it exactly.

Looking at some of the sites, I know it was made in Indonesia and that the 1st # indicates the year it was made. But the 1st # is a ZERO. Could be 1980, 1990 or 2000.

    Confusing!

What exactly is the serial? I'm sure that there is a website that can help you to decode your serial number...

I was wondering the same thing about my second hand Epi Thunderbird that I bought a little while ago. Turns out it was made in 1998, which surprised me.

Have a look at the Wikipedia page... It looks like it can tell you what you want: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibanez

The entire serial # is I020208294

Either it was made in 2000 or 2002 acording to a couple of sites I was looking at. The Gio wasn't introduced until 1998 so it can't be a 1990 or 1980.

According to Wikipedia your bass was made in Indonesia in February of 2002. With a production code of 08294
