I'm in the market to replicate a MM Stingray sound, but I don't play enough to justify spending a month's mortgage on a new bass. I'm wondering if there is a Sterling/SUB bass of there with a 38mm neck that has body contours (and hopefully a maple fretboard and notched EQ). Does anyone know if this exists in the Sterling universe? I know the Ray 34CA meets has the 38MM neck with a slab body, and I believe the Ray 24CA is the same. If I'm not mistaken, the Ray 34 and 24 have the body contours but a 43MM neck. I'm not sure if there is one bass that has both of those features available.

I'm a P bass J neck guy, but I played a Ray 34 that knocked my socks off. Butter smooth neck and phat rich tones. I think the neck was pretty slim, i barely noticed the extra MM's at the nut.

Yeah, the Ray4 is what you’re looking for. I think it’s a great bass for the cash.

I also forgot to mention the Sterling SB14. It’s the less expensive, Indonesian made version of the MusicMan Sterling. It also has a 38mm nut width neck and body contours. It’s been discontinued but they can be had used. I’ve heard and read nothing but great things about them and I just ordered one from GC.
