I like the old 80's sound of Chic's bass player. What strings would you recommend for finger funk and some thumping? I'm using a jazz bass as well as a six string with humbuckers. And who does'nt like the Jaco sound.

  2. La Bella or GHS Precision flats. Both will deliver Fat funk and thump, in spades.

Oh, and I despise the honky, burpy, nasally Jaco sound. :spit:

Thanks. I had a Spector back in 78' and I think they had Labella's on it. Loved I. I should include this is a 5 stringer.

  4. Yup, both come in 4, 5 or 6 strings. :p

I recommend whatever strings you like. I've bought strings that some of my favorites used that I've hated, so I've long quit worrying about it and just use whatever I like.

I hate Jaco's tone on his eponymous album. It sounds like he was using flats! :bag:

As for flats for fingerfunk, I'd go Rotosound JB77. They are pretty bright for flats, but in funk, I don't think that is a bad thing.
