When playing fingerstyle, I'm starting to get a sharp pain on my right-hand middle finger. It's because the pointy end of my fingernail is being jammed into the skin of my finger. It doesn't hurt that bad, but it is very uncomfortable when playing.

Anyone else have this happen, and know what to do about it?

I knew someone who thought they were witty would say that.

They are cut. About as far as they can go.

How long have you been playing?
Make sure your playing with the pad of your finger and not the tip.

Yeah i dont know why that would happen if you were playin correctly. Sounds like you arr playing too much with the tip and not enough with the pad.

I think I was playing a little too much at an angle. I was trying the apoyando technique that Sting mentions in his Bass Player interview, now that I think about it, putting my fingers at that angle might have done it.
