I have recently made some amazing discoveries of some really great Jazz bass guitar players and just wanted to see if there is anyone I am missing.

I play both 4 and 5 string and also upright, but I must say that my somewhat modified 65 pbass (sacrilege I know) is by far my favorite and the instrument that I am most comfortable with.

Anyhow I have been listening to:

    Jeff Andrews
    Jeff Berlin
    Avishai Cohan
    Steve Swallow

Any others out there? (past or present):bassist:
  2. Jaco comes to mind..

    Jaco? who is that?

    (just kidding)

Of course he is at the top of my list. I have just thought of another one - Jack Bruce.

Check out CAB, Bunny Brunel and Tony MacAlpine. Bunny is a smokin fretless player and Tony is no slouch.

Oh, Bunny plays a 5'er. Oh well, worth a listen anyway.

Will Lee on the album he did with his dad called 'BirdHouse', excellent straight ahead playing from one of the greats of electric bass.

cool, thanks guys that should keep me busy for a while, however I live in Nigeria so it may take me some time to get a chance to listen to these guys unless I can find something on youtube.
  16. I found a good way to purchase cd's, especially a lot of the ones on TB, as they are not regular stock, is through iTunes. All you need is an iTunes card, although I'm not sure how difficult that is to get in Nigeria.
