Looking into getting a fretless bass built...

I really love the feel of a nice ebony fretboard on fretless basses, but lately I've seen some interesting fretboards made from Bocote wood...

in terms of weight, i believe bocote is lighter than ebony, but equally as hard as ebony, but I'm curious to other people's opinions...

for a fretless bass, should i go with a Bocote or an Ebony fretboard?

Since no one has posted to your thread, i'll try to give my half-assed opinion :D

Well, i suppose the fingerboard weigth isn't a big deal, unless you have a VERY ligth body and are concerned about neck dive. There is a reason that Ebony are favored as a fingerboard, i suppose. With the exeption of Ebonol, my favorite fretboard for an fretless must be Ebony.

I once played a Maple fretboard fretless, and i loved it! Brigther\growlier than rosewood, and punchier than Ebony, though not beeing so "clear" sounding.

Sorry for the inproper use of words, i can't think clearly today :).
