A good buddy of mine just told me about a security issue with the firefox browser, which is what i have used for a long time, it's my favorite browser. i searched the web but i couldn't really find anything. he reccomended uninstalling and using regular mozilla.

can anyone confirm or deny this?

There have been a couple in the last few months, no biggie. Nothing is 100% bullet proof from hackers.

There have been issues in the past, but I haven't heard anything recently. If there is an issue, the folks at Mozilla are usually pretty good at getting a fix out within a few days. This is in contrast to Microsoft which often lets its security issues fester for months and sometimes years before releasing a patch.

Just make sure you're running the lastest version of Firefox (1.5).

You can't deny that MS sucks. They're so far behind the open-source curve. MS is a gross old dinosaur that manages to stay around because of massive contracts with companies like Dell and HP that build dumbed-down computers for the ignorant masses that run Windows out of the box.

That said, Mozilla is slow. I'm sticking to Firefox. And Opera is ugly.

for everyone dissing MS, that's fine. keep it to yourself.

    because i don't care.

i started this thread asking about a possible security problem with firefox, not your personal grievance with microsoft.

thank you to MJ and unsung who actually offered infro relating to the question at hand.

Anytime Clay. As was mentioned, Firefox and Mozilla do a good job of staying on top of security threats. As long as you stay on top of your updates, you should be fine. Just keep in mind that someone is always out there devising a way to compromise your security. :D

What would you'ns do without the TB computer geeks around to look out for you??? :D

You all should take a moment to stop by your company IT department tomorrow morning and hug one of the IT people, or bring them some Starbucks.
