Just got my new Avatar Neo 210 .Decided to go with it to replace my other 210 that got stolen. Paired it with my GB 115, and it sounds incredible. Run through my shuttle 3.0. Might not be the most powerful rig but I can get exactly the sound I desire. Customer service was great , shipping was quick.Product is excellent! I know there are plenty of positive threads on Avatar, but I just had to add one more.
I just added a second b210 as of today. 2 Avatar b210 4ohm cabs running chained at 2 ohms getting 700watts is pretty sexy. And with this addition I think I'm happily DONE with my rig. All I need... more then I need... more then I deserve in all likelyhood.
Dave's custom Eminence Neo's. 500w 4 ohm cabs, so each speaker is 250w 8 ohms. I've had no problem with my B strings. I guess it just all depends on what you ask of your cabinets sonically.
I ordered a B212 Neo today. I got an email saying it'd be shipped today, so I'm gonna request a tracking number tomorrow. I cannot wait! I'm very pleased with my purchase, and I haven't even gotten the cab yet. It'll be interesting to hear how it sounds with my Kustom head. That head puts out 500W at 8 ohms, which is what the cab is rated at. I'm worried about using it as a stand alone, so I'll probably hook up my Behringer 410 to cut the power a little bit.
At a blues jam I went to, the bass rig was a Kustom head (1200 ?) and a Avatar 2X10 NEO, outdoors.. I used the settings that the other bass guy used and played my Am, Dlx. P-Bass flat (EQ).... I was floored.. it was solid, tight and had a great low end. I think lots of head room in the amp helped..... but then when the jam was over I lifted the cab ...... sooo light !!!! I think it weighted less than the head did, sweet little rig .
They are definitely light. I think my head weighs around 30 pounds. The 212 cab is something like 56 pounds. It is wonderful how light it is. My Peavey 15" combo weighs about a pound more than the Neo cab. That only feels heavy because the only handle is on the top. It'll be nice to have two handles on the side so it isn't as awkward. That's awesome that you enjoyed the rig. I had considered the 210, but wanted the 12s more. I might have to add the 210 to my stack sometime.
Stflbn, Have you played in a live setting with the two Avatars 210 neo's stacked in the vertical yet? This is the set-up I've been considering. Be so kind to tell me everything you can think of...good and bad....about the 210's you've got. I'll be driving them with a GK 800 head, Aphex Bass Exciter, active Lakland 4 string or passive Fender jazz 4 string. Thanks.
I have the 2x10 neo + a 1x12 neo in line x, nice littlte stack there solid and a sweet deal, although I did disconnect the horns as they seem a little hissy. I was told by Dave and crew to do this rather then turn them off all the way to avoid damage to them so I felt obligated to share this info with you folks "keep them on somewhat or disconnect if you don't care for them" but to be fair I have never cared for horns and or very much high end on any cabs.
I think the 210 Neo is Avatar's best sounding cabinet. The drivers seem to work well with that cab size.
That line of thinking is based on the fact that the tweeter attenuator has to do something with the energy it's not sending to the tweeter, so it turns into heat. Whether it's enough heat to matter is debatable, but that's the idea anyway.
I paid about 100 dollars more for my previous 210. I shouldnt mention the brand and I'm telling ya the Avatar sounds better without question. I wish I would have bought it first. And about the tweeter, no problems with hiss at all as I keep it at a low level . Probably at a three or five level, the attenuator isnt numbered so just a guess
Yes That is what Dave at Avatar said that there was still power going to the tweeter since there was not a actual on off switch and would result in damage over time from heat if not kept on somewhat "I don't know I am no tech guy," but since he was the owner and I don't care for tweeters anyway I didn't want to risk anything, I just went a head and disconnected them, On that note I was talking with another TBer and he had ran his for several weeks turned all the way down, and they did not appear to be damaged, but if you know your never going to use them at all as in my case why risk it.
I just ordered the neo410 to replace my ampeg 410HE. I can't wait to get it, cause I've heard nothing but good things. Technically, I can't, in all confidence, recommend Avatar until I've received and broken in the NEO410. My fingers are crossed! I can, however, discourage any of you reading this from the Ampeg 410HE. IMO, there are way better cabs out there for the price, and I'm banking on Avatar proving me right.
That will be an interesting comparison - please report back! Will you able to A/B them, or have you sold your Ampeg?
yeah. no problem. I still have the 410HE so I was already planning on doing some A/B-ing for shnits and giggles.
I feel like a dog chasing his or her tail. Over the last year I have owned 2 Neo 112 cabs and 1 neo 210 cabinet. I owned them at different times and have since sold them all. I settled on a neo 410 last month and have been gigging with it. Sounds fine but I really missed the 210 cabs so today (gulp) I just ordered 2 x 210 cabs (8 ohm). The felxibility here will be great., for me anyway. I can either run them both on my side of the stage in a vertical stack (thanks again Jimmy M) or one upright on each side of the stage. My drummer and GP over there say they can never hear me. Plus I can just take one to a rehersal or a really small gig. I couldn't do any of that with my 4 ohm neo 410. I'm going to keep the 410 for practice in my basement. Ps Don't tell my wife
Exactly. That's what I'm doing with my 2, but mine are both 4ohm cabs. In the past year I've had an Eden 2x10, Peavey 410, Avatar 210, Avatar 212, and now another b210 to add to the previous 210. These just make the most sense for me Audibly and Monetarily.
Ah a fellow player with cab itus. I stayed with 2 x 8 ohms as I use a Shuttle 6 and it only goes to 4 ohms.
