After sifting through this forum I'm still in need of some personal advice. Im very ignorant in terms of amps - Im still using a 100W Trace Commando from ten years ago! But I want something a little more powerful. With my budget Ive found these which I intend to put together:

    Amp:

    Cab:

    http://www.thomann.de/gb/hartke_45xl.htm

I like the response range and aluminum speakers on the Hartke cab.

Can anyone see a problem with putting these two together? The amp is 300W @ 4Ohms and the the can is 400W @ 8Ohms. Im still a little confused about impedance.....

And how do you pronounce "Hartke"?!

    Any help would be great!

    Cheers.

  2. No problem!
The power output of the amp at 8 ohms will be less then the promised 300 watt.
But rest reassured that you won't blow the speakers nor the amp :D
Higher impedance on the cabinets then on the amp only affect the power output of the amp. You are in the danger zone when your cabinet(s) have a lower impedance then the amp output

Think German when you pronounce 'Hartke' :D
