I live in a small rural Midwest town. We have one music store that has a small selection of cheap instruments. They don't carry Fender, Yamaha or Peavey.

I did some online research and the Yamaha BB414 sounds like a decent first bass for rock. What do I need to consider before buying it?

I can get it for $380. What other guitars in this price range should I consider?

  2. Geez, I don't know, but I'll tell you honestly, that I've been stolen away from Yamaha by the Ergodynes by Ibanez. I had a Yammy, and became instantly faster, more accurate, and got better tone.......... just by buying and EDB600. About the same price on 123, I think!

Add a few bucks and buy the active one, more versatility.

I don't think you can lose with the BB414. Excellent reviews all around and they seem to be highly regarded by fellow TB ers who own em. Check the threads....there are many.

I'm thinking of getting one, have played a couple in different places to see if I really like them. I'm getting one as a fretted 4 string, since I lack one :\
