my friends have their own jazz group, and antonio is their bassist.. but he has to work tonight.

they asked me on teusday to play... we practiced wednesday and thursday and will practice again tonight.

    take 5
    blue train
    girl from ipanema
    bunch `a blues

a couple others which i forget.... so basically it is a lot of stuff i can fake my way through... we are playing at the fair, so its not like anyone will be too scrutinous anyways.

but yes. w00t. first gig... and first gig as a bassist for hire. :p

That was horrible... but no one seemed to notice.

We played mostly songs I was told we definitely weren't going to play... so I was stuck faking my way through half the set. faking it decently, though.

I was smart enough to tell all my hoe's to come...

So the trumpet is introducing everyone...

    "I'm chris..."

    "Thats eric on trombone"

    "Derek on trumpet 2"

    "Matt on alto sax"

    "brad on tenor"

    "nathan on drums"

"and mike money on the bass"

    Yes. I rock.

During my first gig, When I was leaving the stage a pack of girls screamed "Mick, You're dead sexy!". It is a great feeling ain't it?

    Should it be "I swing"?

I had my first jazz gig in the summer, we did Girl From Ipanema as well, and we're adding Caravan along with 7 or 8 more med. swings for an upcoming charity gig in November.

Congrats on the hoes indeed! Good luck on getting more gigs with that group.
